First day underwater

January 20, 2014

Took the new Nikon AW110 snorkelling for the first time this morning. It performed quite well. Battery life was good, everything was easy to control in the water and the screen could be viewed with minimal distractions. The highlight by far for this camera are the macro capabilities. You'll see in a couple of the photos below how close the subject can be to the camera. So far, above and below the water, I'm very happy with the AW110 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good priced point and shoot that can be used underwater.

Check out the puffer fish below. This guy was hiding under a ledge in about 2m of water. He's easily the biggest puffer we've seen snorkelling or diving. My guess would be about 80cm long, or as Jodie said, "he's half the size of me!" Just the 2 turtles this time, hopefully more tomorrow.
